Amazon.com Product Description Forget the gimmicks and build a powerful physique with this Everlast multifunction chinning bar--one of the tried-and-true cornerstones of fitness. A chinning bar uses your body's own resistance to create maximum impact where it counts most, such as the pecs, biceps, abs, and obliques. The multifunction bar sets up pretty much anywhere, including in a doorway, against a wall, or on the ground. When installed in the doorway, the chinning bar lets you perform pull-ups and chin-ups, so you can create a strong back and muscular biceps in no time. When on the ground, the bar's comfort grips make pushups more effective than ever, helping you build a strong, defined chest and sculpted triceps. Finally, you can rest the bar against a wall, where it holds your feet for sit-ups and other ab work. And best of all for people who want a versatile workout, the bar offers multiple grip positions that allow you to work muscles from several different angles. A great foundation for any training regimen, the Everlast multifunction chinning bar adjusts to fit doorways up to 32 inches across. IM RIPPED NOW February 25, 2010 Brian Carpenter OMG IM SO HAPPY W/ PURCHASE HELPS ME GET JACKED/RIPPED IN THE DOORWAY! AND IT WAS CHEAP
Works great but had few imperfections February 22, 2010 ashin220 (ashin220) I weigh 225 lbs and have no problems with this. Only problem I had was that when I got the item, there were a couple of factory defects. One of the pieces was missing a hole for the screw to go in and the traction tape on the wooden back was ripped. I didn't feel like paying addtional fees for shipping so, I drilled a hole into it myself and it works fine.
works well if correctly assembled January 29, 2010 John Yen (rochester, NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
- yes the bolts seem to be too long so the lock nuts seem to not work. they DO work, however. hold the bolt with a wrench or pliers, then keep tightening the nut with another wrench so the bolt goes through the lock nut. that's why the plastic lock nut caps seem too long; actually they fit well over the bolt extended past the lock nut. given how many reviewers haven't understood this, the assembly sheet included could have been more clear
- no power tools needed for assembly, no second person needed either. two monkey/socket wrenches or a monkey/socket wrench and pliers or even two pliers, that's all you need
- over time, the rough strip on the wood holding the bar to the wall above the door frame will likely strip the paint off most walls. i covered it with plastic so it still helps grip but doesn't rub anything away
- works as is for door frames 20" - 34" wide & up to 6" thick, although more narrow than normal frames will preclude a couple kinds of chinup/pullup. for wider frames, try removing the end caps and adding whatever length of steel pipe's needed
use good form, don't rush or use inertia and surprise! it works well for chinups, pullups, pushups, situps - exactly as advertised. to avoid slipping, make sure the wood touches the wall along its full length
Wreck January 24, 2010 R. Kobashigawa (USA) The screws are too long for the bars and cannot be adjusted, causing the whole thing to be very unstable. The only screws that fit are for the plank of wood that hooks on to your doorway. I could not be more disappointed.
Screws don't fit January 9, 2010 Cole Wright The screws are self-locking so they don't tighten down and there's too much play to work well. You could probably fix this with a trip to the hardware store, but you shouldn't have to.
