1 out of 5 stars Accuracy is so much worse than 205/305!   September 5, 2010
G. LO (Fremont, CA)
I am an avid runner and also own Forerunner 201 and 205.

205 has been working very well for me for more than 3 years. It is a bit old so I am replacing it with a newer Garmin.

I thought 110 would be a good choice. Boy, was I wrong?

I don't care about the lack of instant pace that many are complaining. Serious runner that I know do you look at instance pace any way. It is too erratic to be useful

First thing I don't like is the lack of lap distance. That makes it impossible to do an interval workout that is not on a track.

Second, the watch goes into power saving mode after a while. I missed using it at the start because it happened to be in power saving mode right before that. And it took forever to require the signal. Basically, it was useful for my 1st race using it.

Last but not least, the accuracy of this watch is SO MUCH WORSE than 205. I might as well save a hundred bucks by going with 305 as my replacement. It is cheaper and perform better for a serious runner.

4 out of 5 stars It does what it is supposed to do.   August 27, 2010

This is the first GPS watch that I bought so I have no comparison. But if you just want a "simple" one with basic functions that is easy to operate, I'd highly recommend this.

The only thing I do not like is that I cannot check my split time until I plug the watch into a computer. Other than that, it does what it is supposed to do (keeping track of time and distance) and some more. (I did not expect the function of seeing the elevation chart and pace chart synchronizing with each other.)

4 out of 5 stars Great tool for runners   August 27, 2010

The Garmin Forerunner 110 is the perfect tool for all runners. It is simple and easy too use -- basically you put in on, push a button and start running. It's not big and bulky like a lot of other GPS watches and is very accurate. The only negative thing that this model doesn't feature is your real time speed. It gives you your average for each split (not a big issue for me.) Other than that I would recommend this watch for anyone who wants a simple, easy to use, GPS watch without having to take a college course on how to use it.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect, if you want something simple   August 18, 2010
JLO (Renton, WA)
I looked at the other Garmin products and I am so glad that I waited long enough for this to come out before purchasing something. I just want to know how far I have gone, so I can run on trails, and how fast. I didn't need all of the extra bells and whistles especially not for the extra $$. This product is so simple to use I didn't even need to read the manual. If you are a serious runner who wants more detail, this is not for you. I have read a few negative reviews about how this doesn't compare to the previous Garmin products, but for about $200 less it makes sense that it would be a scaled down version with less features. Based on what I read about this product, it does exactly what it claims it would do.

5 out of 5 stars Better than expected!   August 17, 2010

This item was better than expected! I research the heck out of products before I buy and finally settled on this item. I chose this because I did not want/need the heart rate monitor, which can be purchased separately for around $40 so I didn't see the value of it. After wearing it on runs from 3-10 miles, this thing works flawlessly! I run under lots of tree cover and it has no problem finding satellites or maintaining connection. Keeps pace in real time; not sure what other reviewers mean when they say it doesn't show pace; perhaps they haven't set it up correctly? I have not downloaded info to the Garmin online site yet so I cannot comment on that, though if it works as easily as the watch itself does, should be fine. Easy to use, easy to set up, battery life is strong, accurate, comfortable, etc, etc. If you are looking for a simple, reliable, GPS watch, buy the 110. I'm glad I did.
