I adore this heart rate monitor! It was simple to set up and has all of the basic features I was looking for. The chest strap is surprisingly comfortable and the monitor worked well. I feel that it has really helped my workouts as I finally know when to push myself and when to back off. I've only been using it for about a week but I believe this product will really help work smarter!

The polar F6 is perfect for those of you who want to know exactly how many calories you burn in a workout. For awhile, I never had a clue as to how many I was burning because I know the machines are never accurate. But now that I know its so much easier to know how much I should eat everyday.
I LOVE the pink color as well, guess thats just the girl in me :)

I am not a marathoner: I'm barely a run-walker. Polar heart rate monitors (mine is the F6) help me work harder and smarter.

The Own Zone feature on the Polar F6 Pink Coral (Size Large Chest Transmitter 42-60 Inch Chest) Heart Rate Monitor for Women (and most of their monitors, I think), calculates your target heart rate zone. After you've warmed up, it starts beeping when you are below your zone. I can't stand the beeping, so I speed up. Sometimes, I then go to the other extreme and raise my heart rate too high. Then it starts beeping again.

The Polar watch tracks time in your target zone, so I set my aerobic goal based on that number instead of total time working out. It feels like a game to me. My goal is to keep it from beeping for 30 minutes -- and I speed up or slow down to control it. If my heart rate it too slow -- then those minutes literally don't count. If my heart rate is too fast -- then those minutes don't count, either.

Personally, the reassurance of an actual measure of my effort is much more effective for me than the "sing" test that many people recommend to guess at your intensity. Remember the Presidential Fitness drills in school? I'd have these really embarrassing attacks during the running portion. My friends and other kids laughed and impersonated the honking-seal sort of sound that came out of me. The doctor called it exercise induced asthma - and prescribed a rescue inhaler.

I'm not a doctor -- please don't take this as medical advice-- but if I keep my heart rate within the Polar measured target heart rate zone, I may breathe very heavily and be short of breath, but I have not yet had another full blown seal attack. So, that also encourages me to try harder -- because I've come to trust that number -- I'm not as scared when I start breathing heavily.
