Love the table hockey games of your youth but wary of the rickety construction? Turn to the Stiga NHL Stanley Cup table hockey game, a durable, high-quality, Swedish-made product that's designed to last a lifetime. The Stiga table is outfitted with a series of expertly crafted three-dimensional hockey players who wear the genuine NHL uniforms of the teams (Stiga also sells players from the 28 other teams). As a result, you'll feel like you're actually in the arena, with the official NHL team colors, uniforms, and logos spread throughout the rink. In addition, the game plays better than the tables of your youth, with two right-grip marksmen, a left forward who can lurk behind the opponent's goal in the "Gretzky position," and a center forward who can go back into his own zone to build up the attack. And, of course, the game includes all the requisite puck ejectors, behind-the-net plexi-shield protectors, and goal counters one would expect from a top-quality NHL table hockey game. It's the best way to enjoy nonstop NHL action short of actually attending a game in person. Other features include easy-to-move control rods, goalies that move from side to side, and 1.65-inch legs that lift the game off the table surface. The Stiga table measures 37 by 3 by 19.75 inches (W x H x D).
Bring table hockey excitement to any game room or family room. |
Product Description All players are 3-dimensional and wear the uniforms of two major teams. The teams have been added extra strength as in that the talent scouts have succeeded in recruiting two right-grip marksmen. Together with a left forward that can get back behind the opponents’ goal in “the Gretzky position” and a center forward that can go back into his own zone to build up the attack, there are all the prerequisites for taking your playing standard to new heights. Puck ejectors, plexi shields behind the net and goal counters go without saying in Stanley Cup.

Flimsy but fun July 23, 2010 R savchenko I used to have a game like this when I was a kid. Guests on the holdiay also had interesting comments/memories of playing the game as kids themselves. Great "old-fashioned" fun! Would recommend it as a gift for all ages. Thanks for promoting a quality product and providing timely delivery for the holidayBought this item as a gift for 8 year old nephew. Don't know who had more fun........my nephew, , his father or me. It was so "heartwarming" to see them all so excited about a gift that didn't need batteries or need to be hooked up to a computer or tv to use and enjoy. It is not super durable but still a lot of fun.
Well Engineered Non-Bubble Rod Hockey Game July 9, 2010 Max and Sophie's Dad (IL United States) We have had the game for 7 months with dozens of hours of play applied to the game.
Given that children today live in a digital age, this game provides much needed analog dexterity training for children. For example, given the position of the shooter relative to the goalie, the amount of angular rotation applied to the shooter (by twisting the rod) must have just the right angular acceleration to get a goal. It would be very difficult to have a signal processing algorithm equivalent for any video game.
It holds up to the roughest of play. Often young children (7 years old or less) accidentally apply force to a fully extended rod at a right angle (perpendicular) to the length of the rod - it holds up time and again without any observable bend to any of the rods.
One of the most impressive aspects to the design of the game is there are no dead spots anywhere with a puck flat against the ice; and if the puck is on its side I don't remember one time we had to manually intervene.
Every child who visits my son makes a stop at the hockey game. My nephews now have one of these given we have had some exciting matches.
The only negative is how the game was packed. I was surprised when I opened it that there wasn't any damage - there was no packing to protect the plastic frame from incurring impact damage. The game was in the box without packing material and the only thing separating the box from the outside world was a couple mil thick cardboard box. However it should be noted that the frame is made of a very malleable plastic that can withstand impact well (i.e. the kids provide significant impact force without any perceivable effect upon the game) Also the rods could have been taped to the frame to keep the rods from sliding around during shipping. However given all of my objections to packing, mine arrived with no damage at all.
10 and 7 yr old enjoying....and 40plus Dad too June 5, 2010 J. Mski (Chelms MA) We got this for our 7 year old and both boys love it. finally was allowed to toss my husbands dilapitated one that he couldn't bear to part with even though it was unusable. I am nervous about my boys constantly changing teams and we're trying to 'train' them to carefully take players off and put on; so far so good, but it's still fairly new. Reminds me of my brothers and their play by play action. I think it's a hit. Husband is enjoying too...I think he is happy with the quality too
Major Disappointment with the Flimsy Construction (and Overpriced) April 14, 2010 Ernest Buckley (Brooklyn, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this game based on the great reviews it was given here on Amazon and I was really disappointed when I received this product. This review will go against the grain of most here...
I originally purchased this for my two boys (and myself). My oldest son really got into hockey this year and I thought this would be a fun way to keep his interest during the offseason... (hey the Islander and Rangers didn`t make the playoffs so the seasons over). I also figured this would be a cool way to get my younger son (4) slowly into the game as he watched his older brother and me play. He wasn`t interested in playing in a league so I figured this may be the next best way to get him hooked.
The game arrived today and the first thing that struck me was when UPS delivered it, the game shipped in its original box. Considering it traveled 500+ miles, I can only imagine the drops and hits it took on its journey. The box was roughed up a bit but our excitement was still strong.
When we opened the box, my kids excitement grew but mine quickly gave way to disappointment.
After removing all the pieces and starting to construct the game, we discovered that several pieces were missing and the side boards had scuff marks on them as if it had spent some time next to someones sneaker so most likely we received a product that was used already and beaten up a bit.
Aside from this is the disappointment is the build quality which is really a shame. The only metal parts are the rods that control player movement. Aside from that, this product is made of thin plastic and the ice surface is a joke. I guess if you put the players on the rods, it`ll keep the plastic sheet on the game but we never got that far because we discovered that a leg was missing.
I cannot honestly write a good review on a product that costs $90 that is made of several pieces of plastic snapped together and a thin sheet of paper to mimic the ice surface. So tomorrow morning, this product will be returned, refunded and I`ll look elsewhere for something worth my $$$.
We also ordered several more teams just to make it more interesting and play a mini season but those teams did not arrive yet. When the Islanders and Blackhawks do get here, they`ll be wondering where the rink went.
Lots of fun February 23, 2010 MK (Irvine, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game is a lot of fun. As many others already mentioned, it's a bit flimsy. What I had in the 80s was made a LOT sturdier. However, it hasn't yet fallen apart after about a month of heavy use.
